To carry out our Home Energy Surveys, we use specialised diagnostic equipment and software – a selection of which we’ve outlined below. This enables us to find out what simple energy efficiency improvements can give you the best return on investment – and reduce CO2 emissions and other environmental pollution, too.

Thermal Camera A highly specialised instrument that can ‘see’ invisible heat to help us find areas of heat loss in your home. Using a palette of colours called a thermogram, it shows heat radiating through walls and from appliances. In the right conditions it can also diagnose missing or ineffective insulation, track hot pipes under floors and locate air leaks and moisture problems in your home.
Blower Door An effective way for us to find air leakage or uncontrolled ventilation in your home – to help reduce cold spots and wasted heat. Over 20-40% of heat is lost through gaps and holes in homes, so it makes sense to find out where it’s going. A Blower Door Test consists of temporarily sealing a powerful fan in an exterior doorway, and sucking out air. This exaggerates the air leaks, making them easier to find.
Specialist Software Our specialist software programme generates an energy rating based on the SAP – the national standard assessment procedure for the energy rating of domestic buildings – giving us a base from which to identify cost-effective improvement options. The software also generates a report of the annual CO2 emissions you produce, providing a clear idea of how polluting your house is.
Electricity Monitoring Our electricity monitor will give clear readings of how much power your appliances use – so you can see where to make energy savings. Helps you to see how much electricity is wasted while appliances are on stand-by.
